We all have stories we could tell

about those times when life was hell.

When we would want to run and hide

or contemplate our suicide.

When you suffer from depression

that black cloud leaves an impression.

It feels like it is here to stay

and will not ever go away.

You can feel helpless in its wake,

especially when your life’s at stake.

It’s hard to know what you can do,

when that dark cloud hangs over you.

You feel like you’ll go round the bend,

when there’s no light at tunnel’s end.

With all emotions running high,

you think it might be time to die.

Then something deep within your brain

makes you stop and think again.

Despite the pain and rising cost,

perhaps not everything is lost.

Then you might ponder days gone by

and maybe start to wonder why.

When things were worse than they are now,

you always got through it somehow.

Then you start to think at last

of things that helped you in the past.

If you could bring them to the fore,

they might help you as before.

You know what’s wrong and what is right,

so now the time has come to fight.

You’ll put depressive thoughts behind

and you’ll move on within your mind.
